Participant Feature- Cornelius

Cornelius O FB
Our Participant of the Month is Cornelius!
Cornelius came to us at the recommendation of a friend and is glad that he reached out. He was able to do Career Exploration services to find a field he wanted to work in before starting Job Development. He’s currently dedicate his time and effort to applying to childcare jobs. We wish you the best of luck in your job search!
Q:What led you to reach out to OOD for services?
A: I have always had services, but my friend Marck pushed me to try it out.
Q:Why is it important to you to have a job?
A: It’s important for me to have a job because it gives me something to do during the daytime and it also helps me with my finances and meals
Q: How is getting/having a job going to change your life?
A: Having a job will give me different experiences. Also, it will help the community to become more aware of people with disabilities.
Q:What challenges or problems did you have to face to get your job?
A: The biggest challenge is always making sure that the place I choose to work is wheelchair accessible. Another challenge is making sure that people can understand me.
Q:How did Greenleaf help you with these challenges?
A: Greenleaf has helped me open different opportunities to be able to apply for the job that I want to work.
Q:What advice would you give to others who are nervous about looking for a job and working?
A: I would always say, never give up and always try all your options that you have available.
