Who We Help
Individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment bring valuable experience and skills to the workplace. Sometimes, all that is needed for success is the right job fit, a little extra support, or a reasonable accommodation (i.e. a stool to sit on, modified equipment to use, or extended training). We help you and prospective employers understand what your capabilities are, what reasonable accommodations you need, and how you both can benefit from working together. Our services are available to all individuals who face significant barriers to employment.Who We Help
We help people with significant barriers to employment find jobs they love.
FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES
We’ll help you learn how to evaluate job descriptions and job sites to determine which ones are most appropriate for you. You can experience work trials to help you gauge your capabilities and what accommodations you may need. We can also help you educate your new employer and co-workers about your disability and how, with a few reasonable accommodations, you can get the job done. Most importantly, though, at Greenleaf you will receive support from people who understand what you are going through and who’ll encourage you along the way.
FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH VISUAL OR HEARING IMPAIRMENTS
From filling out job applications to conducting in-person interviews, we help you communicate with prospective employers. If needed, we will provide transportation for you to and from interviews then aid you in making long-term transportation arrangements. We’ll help you educate prospective employers about your disability and the accommodations that will allow you complete your job duties. Mostly, though, we provide individualized support throughout your time with us.
FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL ILLNESSES
We are very sensitive to the stigma society attaches to mental illness and our services are completely confidential. We will provide you support during your job search, but prospective employers do not need to know you are working with us. If you prefer to be open about your disability, we will help you educate your employer about your disability and what accommodations you need to better conduct your job responsibilities. We can also provide you with trial work experience to build your confidence and identify the things that will help you flourish in your new position.
FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES
If you have never worked before we can help you decide what kind of work is most interesting to you. We’ll provide you with trial work experience to help you learn about work and what your skills and capabilities are. We can assist you in filling out applications and conducting job interviews including providing transportation to and from potential jobs. Once you have been hired a job coach will help you learn your new job responsibilities and help you get settled in your new position.
I am very excited to say that OOD purchased a 3-wheel bike for our mutual client to ride his bike to work. Greenleaf also did a great job of finding him a job near his home, so he could ride his bike and not always depend on his family for transportation.
