Participant Feature- Alex

Alex C FB (1)
Our participant of the month is Alex! Alex participated in our Summer Youth program in the past and graduated from Project Search in May (Congrats Alex!). Alex then came to us for help finding his permanent job. He was ready and excited to start working. The hardest part? Being patient and waiting for the right job to come along.
FULL INTERVIEW BELOW
Q: What led you to reach out to OOD for services?
A: The staff at CTech, Mr Zane, encouraged him to get connected with services
Q:Why is it important to you to have a job?
A: I like to help other people and love to get out of the house and earn money to buy Disney stuff.
Q:How is getting/having a job going to change your life?
A: I want to get my own apartment. I will have money to have my own place and maybe be roommates with other Project SEARCH kids.
Q:What challenges or problems did you have to face to get your job?
A: I had to go to lots of interviews and wait for the right job to come along. It was a long process to apply, interview, and wait.
Q: How did Greenleaf help you with these challenges?
A: I did Summer Youth at Giant Eagle, then I did Project SEARCH, so I learned a lot of work skills. This let me be ready for a permanent job.
Q: What advice would you give to others who are nervous about looking for a job and working?
A: Wait and be patient and something good will come along eventually.
