About Greenleaf Job Training Services

Vocational Rehabilitation

Greenleaf Job training Services is a for-profit social enterprise serving a niche segment of the Central Ohio population. Our clients are veterans, individuals with developmental and learning disabilities, those who’ve had traumatic brain injuries, people with physical, visual, and hearing impairments, and others who face significant barriers to employment.

Our clients are NOT, however, victims. They are not looking for handouts. They are dedicated individuals seeking honest work. Our job is simply to open doors for them.

“I’ll lift you and you lift me, and we’ll both ascend together.”
-John Greenleaf Whittier

All too often individuals with disabilities are talked about as if they aren’t even there, and decisions are made for them rather than with them.

We do things differently.

We ask job seekers what they want to do. Each person is deeply involved in every step of their vocational rehabilitation. And we expect every one to take personal responsibility. We provide many tools for finding a job, but getting and keeping that job is up to the job seeker.

Company history

Greenleaf Job Training Services was founded in March 1995 by Jennifer Kuntz. At the time Jennifer was working as a job coach in the special education department at Worthington City Schools of Columbus Ohio. She helped students obtain employment as part of their curriculum, but worried because many of those students struggled to retain their jobs over the summer break.

Trying to bridge the gap, Jennifer spent one summer working as an independent youth job coach for the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities Agency (OOD). The following March she started Greenleaf. Since then we have helped thousands of differently abled job seekers of all ages find employment and greater self-reliance.

The majority of our services are paid for by the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities Agency (OOD), a state and federally funded organization. Additionally, we provide medicaid waiver services, administered and funded by local county boards of Developmental Disabilities. Large private entities including local hospitals also use our services. Previous partners include various large and small organizations, such as Community Refugee and Immigration Services (CRIS), local school districts, and Community Properties of Ohio (a non-profit organization) for a United Way workforce development project.

The result of our many partnerships is that our services are highly accessible both to qualified job candidates and employers seeking a well-trained, diverse workforce.
